FAQs

When should a lift consultant be involved?

As early as possible — ideally while the building is still on paper. Shaft positions, structure and lobby layout all follow the vertical-transport design, and changing them on a drawing is far cheaper than changing them on site. If the building is already designed or built, the study still pays off: it tells you what the system can deliver and what needs fixing.

What is a traffic study?

It models how people move through your building at its busiest — how many arrive, from where, and how long they wait for a lift. The output is numbers: waiting times, handling capacity and the configuration needed to achieve them. It replaces guesswork and catalogue defaults with figures specific to your building.

Do small buildings need this?

The smaller the building, the shorter the study — but the decision still matters. A six-storey apartment block choosing between one lift and two is making a decision it will live with for thirty years. For small projects the study is light and quick; for towers and complexes it is detailed — either way the building is sized on evidence.
